Bobble ("we") makes an app for iPhone and Android that turns a selfie into a bobblehead and lets friends send each other quick reactions ("bobbles"). This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

• Account: an identifier from Sign in with Apple or Google (or your email, if you sign in with a one-time code), and the name and @username you choose.
• Your selfie: sent to create your Bobble and processed by our AI provider to generate your avatar. We keep each selfie you use in private storage linked to your account, so we know which photo each Bobble was made from and can fix a Bobble that came out wrong. Your friends, other users and the app never see it. If you remake your Bobble with a new selfie, that one is kept too. Your selfies are deleted when you delete your account.
• Your Bobble avatar: the generated images, stored so your friends can see you.
• Activity inside Bobble: your friends list, the bobbles you send and receive, your status and short notes, and a history of that activity (for example who bobbled whom and when, friend requests, past statuses and notes, when you were together with a friend), kept to run Bobble, build features like streaks and improve the app.
• Device tokens: to deliver notifications and update your Live Activity (iPhone) or your crew notification, bubbles and widgets (Android).
• Usage analytics: which features you use (for example "sent a bobble", "created a Bobble"), linked to your account, to improve the app. Never the content of your notes or your images.
• Waitlist: your email, if you join from this website.
• Pre-order on this website (getbobble.com/pack): your email, to send you a one-time sign-in code and to put you on the waitlist. Your selfie is sent as soon as you take it, to start generating your Bobble's head, and kept in private storage that moves to your account once you enter the code, like in the app. The generated head is saved in your private account storage so the app can finish your Bobble when you sign up with the same email.

Auto status (location and motion)

If you turn on auto status, Bobble uses your phone's location and motion data (physical activity on Android) to guess what you're up to (home, work, the gym, a party, asleep, traveling, driving) so your Bobble can change outfits on its own. This is worked out on your phone: only the resulting status (for example "at the gym") is sent to our servers and shown to your friends. Your location, the places Bobble learns (like home or work) and your motion data stay on your device and are not stored by us — the only exception is Together mode, below. On Android, to tell what kind of place you're at (a café, a gym, a bar, an airport), your phone asks our server, which looks it up with Apple Maps; that location is used for this lookup only and is never stored or logged (on iPhone, the same lookup happens through Apple Maps on your phone). You can pause sharing anytime with Go ghost, and turn auto status off in your phone's settings (iPhone: Settings → Bobble; Android: Settings → Apps → Bobble → Permissions).

Together mode (on by default, you can turn it off)

Together mode is on by default and only works if you allow location access; you can turn it off anytime in Settings → Privacy. While it's on, your phone sends our server your location (accurate to about 100 meters) when you stop somewhere or open the app; the server only keeps a rounded version (to about 10 meters). The server only compares it with friends who also have Together mode on, to tell whether you're within about a block of each other. Friends never see your location, only that you're together (for example "Sam is right here with you"); friends you both share can see that too. Each location expires on its own (45 minutes to 4 hours) and is deleted when you leave a place, turn Together mode off, go ghost or delete your account. Your activity history keeps when you were together with a friend, never where. It is never used for ads, never sold and never shared.

Advertising measurement

We advertise Bobble on other apps and websites (for example Instagram and Facebook), and we measure which ad or link brought you to Bobble, and whether you then joined, made a Bobble or installed the app. On this website, the Meta Pixel does this. In the app, Adjust does it: it matches your install to the ad or link you tapped, and uses your device's advertising ID only if you allow it, on iPhone through App Tracking Transparency (the "Allow tracking" prompt), and on Android through your Android advertising ID, which you can reset or delete anytime in your phone's settings. We share events like "joined" or "made a Bobble" with Meta to measure our ads, never your selfie, your Bobble, your notes or your location, and your email only in scrambled (hashed) form. We don't sell your data. To opt out: on iPhone, turn off Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android, delete or reset your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Google → Ads).

What we don't do

No ads inside Bobble, no selling of your data. We never keep your location, except the short-lived approximate one Together mode uses while it's on (you can turn it off anytime); the place lookup of auto status on Android is not stored.

Who sees what

Only people you've accepted as friends see your full Bobble, status, notes and the bobbles you send them. People can find you by your @username to send a friend request: they see your name and your Bobble's head, never your status or where you are. Blocking someone hides your head from them too.

Service providers

We use Supabase (database, storage, authentication), OpenRouter / Google (avatar generation), Amplitude (usage analytics), Apple Push Notification service (iPhone), Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android), Google Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports), Apple Maps (the type of place for auto status on Android), RevenueCat (purchases), Adjust (install attribution and ad measurement) and Meta (ad measurement: the Meta Pixel on this website, and app install and event measurement through Adjust). They process data only to provide the service.

Safety

You can block or report anyone from their profile. Blocked people can't find you, add you or bobble you. Reports are anonymous and reviewed by our team. Notes are filtered for offensive words.

Your choices

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete my account). This permanently erases your profile, selfies, avatar, friends and bobbles, and anonymizes your activity history: your name, @username, notes and messages are removed, and what remains (counts like "a bobble was sent on this day") can no longer be linked to you. If you only pre-ordered on this website, email hello@getbobble.com and we'll delete your email, selfie and generated head. The same goes for a Bobble you made in the app without saving it to an account.

Children

Bobble is not intended for children under 13.
