Apps like Zepeto, checked for 2026

Make my Bobble

Love Zepeto for the 3D avatar, the outfits and hanging out with friends? These are the apps that do one or more of those things well right now.

Updated September 30, 2026By the Bobble team

Zepeto, from NAVER Z, is still going strong in 2026. But maybe your friends aren't on it, you're bored of the same worlds, or you want a different style of avatar. People usually love three things about Zepeto: a cute 3D avatar, a closet full of outfits, and a place to hang out. No single app nails all three the same way, so we sorted these games like Zepeto by what they're best at.

We checked every app in September 2026: is it still live, what it costs, and what age rating the App Store gives it. Full disclosure: we make Bobble, and it's on this list. We tell you who each app fits, including when it's not us.

  1. 1

    Highrise

    Pocket Worlds

The closest Zepeto feel: 3D dress-up and rooms

iPhone, Android, Windows, MacFree, in-app purchases

If you want the full Zepeto loop, Highrise is the nearest match. You build a 3D avatar, dress it from a huge catalog with weekly fashion drops, and hang out in rooms other players make, with free voice chat. There's a real trading scene for rare items, plus pets, minigames and room design. It also runs on computers through Steam, so you can switch between phone and laptop. It fits people who want a busy social world and don't mind meeting strangers.

Watch out: The App Store rates it 16+, Highrise itself suggests 17+ with a hard minimum of 13, and the rarest items cost real money.

    Avakin Life

    Lockwood Publishing

A glam 3D avatar with a home to decorate

iPhone, Android, PC (Steam)Free, in-app purchases, optional VIP

Avakin Life is a 3D virtual life game: you make an avatar, dress it in thousands of outfits, decorate a home and go to parties, contests and weekly events. Its avatars look more grown-up and realistic than Zepeto's cute style. Lockwood Publishing said in March 2026 that it passed 500 million lifetime downloads, and the game left early access on Steam in May 2026, so you can now play it on a PC too. It fits people who care about fashion and a dream-home fantasy.

Watch out: Plenty of the best clothes and homes sit behind VIP (from $4.99 a month on iPhone) or paid currency.

    Bobble

    We make this

Dressing up your avatar with your real friends

iPhone and Android (coming soon), web bobblehead maker todayFree

Bobble is for when you like Zepeto's dress-up part but want it with your actual friends, not a world of strangers. Everyone in your crew becomes a 3D bobblehead made from a selfie, with a vinyl-toy look, on a little spring body. In the fitting room you pick tops, bottoms and kicks, one outfit per status, and your Bobble changes clothes when you hit the gym or go to a party. On iPhone your crew lives in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen. You can make your bobblehead now on the web.

Watch out: The app isn't out yet, and there are no open worlds, games or new people to meet: it's only for friends you add.

    IMVU

    IMVU

3D chat rooms and a giant creator-made catalog

Web, desktop, iPhone, AndroidFree, in-app purchases, optional VIP

IMVU has been around for about 20 years and is all about 3D chat: you dress an avatar from a catalog made by other players, then hang out in rooms, host parties and take photos. The shop is enormous, so if Zepeto's closet feels small, this is a big step up. VIP plans add perks like room hosting and monthly credits. It fits people who mostly want to chat and roleplay in 3D. We cover it in more depth on our page of games like IMVU.

Watch out: The App Store rates it 16+, users under 18 need a parent's permission, and some areas are for age-verified adults only.

  5. 5

    Roblox

    Roblox Corporation

Playing actual games with your avatar and friends

iPhone, Android, PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Meta QuestFree, in-app purchases, optional Premium

If you liked Zepeto's worlds more than its closet, Roblox has millions of player-made games, from roleplay towns to obbies and simulators. Your avatar goes with you everywhere, and the avatar shop is packed with outfits, hair and accessories. It runs on almost anything, which makes it easy to get the whole group on. It fits friends who want to actually play something together, not just hang out.

Watch out: Since January 2026 you need a facial age check to use chat, and you can only chat with people near your age unless you add them as trusted friends.

    Snapchat (Bitmoji)

    Snap Inc.

An avatar your friends already see every day

    iPhone, AndroidFree, optional Snapchat+

Your Bitmoji is a 3D avatar you dress up, and it shows up on the Snap Map, in chats and as stickers, so it's probably the avatar most of your friends already have. The wardrobe gets regular drops, including branded pieces. There's no world to explore: Bitmoji is a way to show up in Snapchat, not a game. It fits people who just want a fun look-alike avatar without joining another app.

Watch out: Snap retired the separate Bitmoji app on June 30, 2026, so everything now happens inside Snapchat, which means signing up for Snapchat.

    Everskies

    Pocket Worlds

    Fashion-obsessed dress-up with a design community

    Web, iPhone, AndroidFree, in-app purchases

Everskies is a dress-up community where you style a pixel doll avatar from more than 150,000 items, many designed by other players. There are clubs, forums, chat rooms and constant outfit competitions (it ran new comps all through 2026) where you can win items. You can design and sell your own pieces too. It's from Pocket Worlds, the team behind Highrise. It fits people who love Zepeto mostly for the styling and want a crowd that takes fashion seriously.

Watch out: Avatars are 2D, not 3D, and the phone app hasn't had an App Store update since 2024, so the website is the better way in.

    VRChat

    VRChat Inc.

Wild custom 3D avatars and huge player-made worlds

iPhone, Android, PC, Meta Quest and other VR headsetsFree, optional VRChat+

VRChat came to iPhone and Android in October 2025, so you no longer need a headset. It has hundreds of thousands of worlds built by players and millions of avatars, from anime characters to total weirdness, with voice chat everywhere. Phone, PC and VR players share the same rooms. It fits people who want the most freedom with how they look and don't mind a louder, more chaotic crowd than Zepeto.

Watch out: You need a phone with at least 6 GB of RAM (iPhone 14 or newer, or a 12 Pro or 13 Pro), and open voice chat means you'll meet lots of strangers.

    Livly Island

    ENSAPIA

Cute avatars, pets and a cozy island to decorate

    iPhone, AndroidFree, in-app purchases

Livly Island mixes avatar dress-up with pet care. You adopt odd little creatures called Livlies (there are more than 70 species), feed them bugs to change their colors, decorate your island and trade with other players. Your avatar gets outfits too, in a soft, cute art style. It fits people who liked Zepeto's cute side and want something slower and cozier than a busy social world.

    Watch out: It's a pet game first and a 2D one, so don't expect Zepeto-style 3D hangouts.

How we picked these Zepeto alternatives

We started from what people say they like about Zepeto: a 3D avatar that looks like them (or better), lots of outfits, and a place to hang out. Then we checked each app's official site and App Store page in September 2026 for platforms, price model and age rating, and looked for 2025 and 2026 news. We left out apps that shut down or changed direction. Genies, for example, now focuses on AI characters rather than a dress-up avatar app, so it's not here.

No one paid to be on this list. The only app we have a stake in is Bobble, and we told you where it doesn't fit.

What changed for avatar apps in 2026

Tips before you switch

Questions people ask

What is the best app like Zepeto?

For the same mix of a 3D avatar, outfits and rooms full of people, Highrise is the closest match. Avakin Life is better if you want a realistic look and a home to decorate. If you want to dress up with only your real friends, Bobble is built for that, though it's still coming soon.

Is there a Zepeto alternative without strangers?

Yes. Bobble is friends-only: you add people by username, link, QR code or by shaking phones, and nobody else can see you. Snapchat's Bitmoji also shows mostly to your Snapchat friends. Open-world apps like Highrise, IMVU and VRChat all put you in rooms with people you don't know.

Is Zepeto still popular in 2026?

Yes. Zepeto is still live on iPhone and Android, gets regular updates (the App Store version was updated in September 2026) and keeps running events and brand collabs. It's free with in-app purchases, and it offers an optional Premium subscription at $3.99 a month on iPhone.

What age is Zepeto for?

The App Store rates Zepeto 13+. Most apps on this list are 13+ too, but Highrise and IMVU are rated 16+ on the App Store, and Livly Island is rated 9+. Always check the rating in your store before downloading, since they can change.

Can I make a 3D avatar of myself from a selfie?

Yes. Bobble turns a selfie into a 3D bobblehead figure, and you can try it now on the web at getbobble.com/pack for free. Zepeto, Highrise, Avakin Life and Snapchat's Bitmoji let you build a look-alike by picking face, hair and outfit options yourself.

Can I move my Zepeto outfits to another app?

No. Items and currency you buy in Zepeto stay in Zepeto. Every app on this list has its own shop and its own currency, so start with the free version of a new app before you spend anything.
